LUGOD AT THE WHOLE EARTH FESTIVAL

What Is It?

The Whole Earth Festival (WEF) is "an annual student run event that brings over 30,000 people together to discover and celebrate sustainable and conscious living on Planet Earth." It is held in the 'quad' at UC Davis.

LUGOD has exhibited at the previous festivals: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007.

	May 10, 2008: We have a booth! Chris McKenzie and Nick Schmalenberger put together a LUGOD booth (#401, near the solar array, northwest of the Quad Stage) at the last minute. Volunteers are needed! Just drop by to help out, and relieve them of their posts for a while. Thanks! Also, check out the photos! May 6, 2008: We were just informed that our booth was approved for this year's WEF (see the Vendors and Booths page: we are an "Appropriate Technology" booth, Booth #401.) We need to scramble to round up volunteers if we're going to go this year!

The 2008 Whole Earth Festival will take place on:

• Friday, May 9th
• Saturday, May 10th
• Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day)

If you'd like to help volunteer for this event, or if you'd like to help coordinate this event, please just show up!

LUGOD's Purpose at Whole Earth Festival:

• To talk to people about Linux and Open Source, and get the word out about LUGOD and the other local LUGs
• To hand out pamphlets containing information about LUGOD, Linux and Open Source (for example, these handouts)
• To hand out CDs containing useful software:
  • Linux Distros and Live CDs
    Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Knoppix.
  • Open Source collections for Windows
    The Open Source Software CD and TheOpenCD.
