Project Reports

  • Demo — No news.

  • Installfests — We'll be holding a second Installfest this month, on Saturday, October 20th. Visit www.lugod.org/if to RSVP. Contact if@lugod.org or post to the 'vox-if' mailing list for more information, or if you'd like to volunteer for future IFs.

  • LERT — No LERT calls since last meeting. As usual, send email to lert@lugod.org if you need emergency Linux help.

  • Library — We're still considering donating our collection of books and other materials from LUGOD's Lending Library to the Davis Public Library. It has been suggested we get a "Donated by..." faceplate placed in the donations. Send email to librarian@lugod.org if you have any comments, or would like to borrow any books. (See www.lugod.org/library )

Other Business

  • Financial Report — $??.?? in voluntary dues were collected.

  • Food — LUGOD purchased 5 pizzas and some muffins from Village Bakery, as well as some soda and ice.

Presentation

  • Leslie Hawthorn, Open Source Program Manager at Google, Inc., discussed their annual "Google Summer of Code" program, designed to introduce students to the world of open source software development, by awarding stipends to students who successfully complete a free software / open-source coding project during the summer.
