1999.04.05 Meeting Notes

We met at Steve's Place Pizza. It hailed quite a bit. It was cool.

Committee Reports

  • Dry erase board - Again no progression on dry erase board. Melissa will send an e-mail out to Nicole.
  • UCD-PPP - No progress.
  • UCD-Resnet - Jessica is done. She will e-mail the final product to Peter. He will handle it from there via e-mail or at the next meeting.
  • Logos - Marianne presented four logos. We couldn't decide whether we liked any of them enough to use, so she'll keep plugging away. Submit ideas and art to her: mwaage@ucdavis.edu.
  • GLUE - We've decided to join GLUE. The vote was 8 to 3 to 4. The GLUE committee was officially dissolved.
  • Tax Exempt Club LUGOD will become a Tax Excempt Organization - the vote was 13 to 0 to 4.
  • Finances - Bill has donated an Easter Basket for our collection plate. $24 dollars was collected today. Our finances stand (after the $34 we will spend to join GLUE) at $36.

Other Business:

  • RedHat schtuff was given away, including a pair of RH tee-shirts and some printed stuff (bumper stickers, pamphlets, etc.)
  • Remaining RedHat stuff is going to be placed in a LUGOD Library
  • Wednesday April 7, 1999, Joe Arruda and others are planning on visiting SVLUG (Silicon Valley Linux User Group) in Santa Clara(?). Their meeting starts at around 7pm. Carpoolers will probably depart at around 4-5pm. Joe plans to e-mail details to the VOX mailing list.
  • A committee has been created to look into providing Linux boxes to the Davis High School. Zach mentioned he has a large number of 14.4k bps modems he could donate. Joe mentioned VA Research may want to help out. We need to decide our goals and then how to present them to the school district.
