Meeting Minutes

Sean Adams, Slim Devices, Inc.
The SLIMP3 Network Music Player

Kemper Hall, Room 1131, UC Davis

Photos by Bill Kendrick

Sean unpacks some SLIMP3 players for his presentation.

An average-sized crowd made it out to UC Davis for the talk.

The insides of a SLIMP3 unit.

Kevin Murakoshi was the lucky winner of a SLIMP3 player in the raffle!

Sean begins his presentation.

A very small, set-top-box-sized Linux PC running the Open Source SLIMP3 server software. Connected to the player via Ethernet.

A SLIMP3 remote control.

They passed around a SLIMP3 board for people to look at, up close.

Controlling the SLIMP3, and its playlist, from a web browser. (Part of the SLIMP3 server software.)

A bad photo of the SLIMP3 LED display.

Another font displayed by the SLIMP3.

We had to dim the lights for the best effect, of course. ;^)

Who's for a game of Tetris!?

We ordered pizza, which arrived during the talk, so we took an intermission.

Back to the SLIMP3 web interface.

The web interface is fully themeable/skinnable.

The SLIMP3 server can even stream MP3 audio to players like XMMS, shown here.

Another photo of XMMS streaming MP3s from the SLIMP3 software.
