We just discovered that Freenode offers a web-based IRC interface. Go to http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#lugod [http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#lugod] to join LUGOD's IRC channel [http://www.lugod.org/irc/]. There are literally thousands of other open source-related channels on Freenode, as well!
