[vox] "Atari Party 2009" hands on historic video game exhibit,March 28th

On Saturday, March 28th from 6pm to 9pm, fans of classic video games
and computers will gather at the Davis Public Library to celebrate
three decades of Atari -- the brand that brought video games into
the mainstream.

Volunteers (some of whom are coming from they Bay Area for this event)
will be setting up their Atari systems, plus over 200 games, for the
general public to play. A dozen systems, spanning the late 1970s through
the early 1990s, will be running simultaneously.

Along with famous classics like "Combat" and "Pitfall!" on the
original Atari 2600 game system, there'll be more recent games,
reelased by independent and homebrew developers long after the
systems were discontinued.

Guest speakers are being lined up to give short talks on the
history of Atari and technical aspects of the systems,
and a number of educational displays will help explain how
video games work.

This event is free, and open to the public. (Registration is
not required.) Children are welcome. Light snacks will be served.

For more information, including a list of the various sytems and
games that will be available to play during the party, visit:
