My experience with KUbuntu, installed through Wubi, is that my first update hangs the package manager. x_x

Aside from that, it's a great gateway distro, in my opinion.

Debian testing breaks sometimes. You can break Kubuntu too, but my
Ubuntu just seems to work. Linux Magazine Pro has a DVD with all the
