Mediaworks announces:

Student Assistant IV position available to a Grad student or an
advanced undergraduate student who plans to be here through June
2004.  

Preference will be given to a Grad Student wanting to do a thesis on
the topic.

Objective:

Design and implement a platform independent VoIP module for
OpenRCT.  OpenRCT is an Open Source communications package developed at
UCDavis primarily for teaching and learning.  It is being incorporated into
an online course that requires Voice over IP capabilities.


Preferred Knowledge and/or Experience:

- Proficiency in Java (required)
- Knowledge / Experience with Object Oriented design and design patters
(required)
- Knowledge / Experience with Java Sound API (required)
- Knowledge / Experience with VoIP protocols and technologies such as H.323
and SIP (preferred)
- Knowledge / Experience with VoIP related Codecs (preferred)
- Knowledge / Experience with P2P and or Client/Server architecture
(required)
- Basic understanding of CORBA (required)
- Experience with big software projects (preferred)
- Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently
- Ability to research latest state of the art technology standards and best
practices in a concise and timely manner
