The next CVBIG Meeting will be held on Monday, November 19 at 5:30 PM at
Sagres Discovery.
Title: Clustering BLAST with Linux, Perl, PHP, and Postgres
Speaker: Eric Engelhard, Manager and Senior Bioinformatics Scientist,
Sagres Discovery
Sagres Discovery's core technology generates a high volume of sequences
that must be mapped to the mouse genome. The solution includes a cluster
of Linux servers running independent instances of NCBI BLAST. This
presentation will focus on using open source tools (including Linux,
Perl, PHP, and Postgres) to pre- and post process sequences through
BLAST and serve up the results through a browser. Overall architecture
and specific code snippets will be discussed.
