There is some commented-out stuff in /etc/mgetty/mgetty.config about
fax-owner:

     32 #  use these options to make incoming faxes owned by "root.uucp" 
     33 #  and mode "rw-r-----" (0640). *LEADING ZERO NEEDED!*
     34 #fax-owner root
     35 #fax-group uucp
     36 #fax-mode 0640

I tried setting these to fax-owner: hajhouse and fax-group: users and sent
another test fax. Here are the resulting log lines:

No file arrived.

I also tried adding the -F option to mgetty to force it to treat incominf
calls as fax calls. Still I received no file, though the sending fax machine
reported a sucessful transmission. The log messages were similar to the
above.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I will ask for help there since
this looks like it might be an obscure problem.
