[vox-tech] Virtual Consoles

My gettys don't seem to like to restart themselves after I log out of
a console session. Usually, there's just a long delay between my
logging out and a new getty showing its face, printing /etc/issue and
being ready to log in again.

Today, however, I noticed the following:

INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

Syslog says:
Feb 10 08:26:00 kabloom getty[2535]: /dev/tty2: already in use
Feb 10 08:26:10 kabloom getty[2536]: /dev/tty2: already in use
Feb 10 08:26:20 kabloom getty[2537]: /dev/tty2: already in use
Feb 10 08:26:30 kabloom getty[2538]: /dev/tty2: already in use
Feb 10 08:26:40 kabloom getty[2539]: /dev/tty2: already in use

Feb 10 08:27:00 kabloom getty[2541]: /dev/tty2: already in use
Feb 10 08:27:10 kabloom getty[2542]: /dev/tty2: already in use

Feb 10 08:27:30 kabloom getty[2544]: /dev/tty2: already in use

My Kernel is:
Linux kabloom.dnsalias.com 2.6.2-2ken #3 Thu Feb 5 11:17:24 PST 2004 i686 GNU/Linux
However I've seen the "long delay" behavior occur on 2.4.23 as well.
(Never seen these messages before, but then I also never thought to
look in my syslog before)

Any idea what's wrong?

I usually have a GPG digital signature included as an attachment.
See http://www.gnupg.org/ for info about these digital signatures.
My key was last signed 10/14/2003. If you use GPG *please* see me about
signing the key. ***** My computer can't give you viruses by email. ***
