Do you happen to have a firewall setup that's dropping all ping packets?
I can't ping 209.233.102.35 but I can ssh into it.

BTW, traceroute to 209.233.102.35 reveals:

   ...

   5  Z-World.cust-rtr.pacbell.net (206.171.148.58)  20.768 ms  19.312 ms

It's going through Z-World! :)
