I agree heartily.

I just hate it if a game bombs, and leaves me stranded in Voodoo-land ;)

I have (and have tried) both xfree's.

No plans to try 2.4 until it's totally stable.  I'd get the test/pre-release
versions, but I don't have any time to spend on debugging.  :(
