MySQL DBA (One Month - Extendible Part Time)

My client would prefer someone residing in the tri-state (NY, NJ, CT) area,
but they will also consider telecommuters residing in and authorized to work
in the USA. 

Seeking an expert-level MySQL Database Administrator for a contracting role
billed hourly.  This position will provide support to a dynamic web team
which supports 4 publications and internal applications utilizing a complex
database structure. Availability needs to be during eastern standard
business hours (8am-6pm).

Duties include, but are not limited to: 
* Install, analyze, monitor, configure, manage and maintain multiple MySQL
servers and databases using InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines 
* Strong ability to do Capacity Planning, Health Monitoring, Normalization,
Security Improvements, Smoke and Load Testing, Performance Monitoring and
Reporting, Diagnostics and Performance Tuning. Have a strong understanding
of performance optimization at query level, schema level, service level, OS
level, hardware level 
* Strong skills in creating Multi-master and clustering replication for
MySQL 4, 5, 5.1 and conducting active upgrades to systems 
* Be able to write Linux shell scripts for role change (promotion, demotion,
and change master), utility scripts, and ability to work at binlog level 
* Automated failover and recovery, backup scripting and disaster recovery
planning. Perform appropriate back-up, restoration and upgrades of database
* Provide assistance to development/design teams, with the ability to
recommend best practices both in code and database design 
* Table and database schema architecture 

You are: 
* An expert with MySQL 5.x running in a Linux 24x7 production environments
(5+ years) 
* An expert at writing complex, yet elegant, SQL queries 
* Familiar with basic administrator tasks on Linux servers 
* Security and reliability focused:  Your heart stops when services are not
* Excited by technology and love expanding your experience 
* Positive, team focused, and customer focused 
* An excellent communicator who loves working with people 

Skills you'll need: 
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering or
equivalent work/education 
* Basic Linux and MySQL troubleshooting skills 
* SQL Programming 
* Stored procedures, triggers, MySQL clustering, indexing, foreign key
relations, data warehousing 
* MySQL Certification a plus 
* PHP Programming experience a plus
